- Army Reserve Spec. EDDIE S. FREEMAN III, with the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing at Bagram Air Field, is currently deployed to Afghanistan. Freeman is a food inspector providing security and defense to the forward operating bases and assisting the team veterinarian with care of the military, contract and coalition working dogs. He is the son of Wallrine Freeman of Kansas City, Kan., and Eddie S. Freeman Sr. of Florissant.

- THOMAS G. HAMMACK of Florissant graduated from the United States Marine Corps' boot camp Sept. 12. Pvt. Hammack is a 2008 graduate of Hazelwood Central High School. He is the son of Catherine Hammack of Florissant and David Hammack of Camdenton, Mo.
