BLACK JACK: Soaring energy prices prompt shorter week, longer days at City Hall
“We’re turning down the thermostat,” he said Tuesday.
Effective this week, City Hall, 12500 Old Jamestown Road, will be open Monday through Thursday.Office hours will be expanded, running from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The old hours were 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
McCourt said the change will save the city money on energy bills, and it could save city employees money, too.
“We have some employees that live quite a bit away,” he said. “This is going to help them, with gas prices what they are.”
The new hours also could help residents do business with the city, McCourt said.
“We’ve always had residents who complained that they’ve got to work and couldn’t get (to City Hall) before we closed,” he said.
